Blue Mountains Accommodation Association

BMAA Objectives

The Blue Mountains Accommodation Association was incorporated in 1991 by accommodation providers with the following objectives:

  • To encourage the highest standards of proficiency and professionalism amongst our membership of accommodation operators within the Blue Mountains region.
  • To promote co-operation between the accommodation industry in the Blue Mountains and other organizations and businesses within our region, with an understanding and commitment to the needs of our guests, the community and the environment.
  • To articulate and represent the concerns, wishes and aspirations of the collective BMAA providers.
  • To provide a regular forum where members can voice their opinions, initiatives and priorities regarding their businesses, the region and tourism in general.
  • To foster friendship and co-operation within our membership, thus offering a united approach to service and hospitality within the accommodation industry.

Meetings

The BMAA meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 1.00pm. Our meetings are held at a different member's property each month so that members have opportunities to showcase their product to the industry and maximise networking opportunities. The Association has a growing membership and is considered a strong and respected lobby group.

Guest speakers

Representatives from Blue Mountains Tourism regularly report to our meetings to keep us up to date, receive feedback and give us opportunities to raise any issues and/or ideas. We have representatives on various committees and target teams. We are given reports on their progress and again, we are provided opportunities to raise issues, and/or ideas. Some of our members are board members of the BMTL.

Other guest speakers of interest might include marketing or advertising experts, suppliers of hospitality goods and services and other Blue Mountains tourism operators.

Projects

The BMAA has developed a web site exclusively for its members to showcase their wide range of properties: www.bmaa.org.au. Constant maintenance and upgrades to the site maintains a very high ranking of this site in search results. Currently, our site ranks in the top ten results on NineMSN and Yahoo Australia.

Another area of local involvement is in the support of charity and community events as they arise in the region.

Social Networking

In addition to commercial considerations, important advantages of our association are the social and networking opportunities. The monthly meetings provide a valuable opportunity to mix with like-minded business operators, after the formal part of the meeting is concluded. We also hold a dinner on the occasion of our Annual General Meeting and our Christmas party is another opportunity for members to meet and mix with one another.

New Membership

We would welcome your membership, as the greater our numbers, the more we can achieve. Our membership fee is $199 per year. We invite you to be our guests at our next meeting, so that you can better consider benefits of membership.
